Staying On Track With A Weight Loss Diary

August 14th, 2010 -- Posted in Fad Diets & Weight Loss Myths | No Comments »

Goal setting and focus are key competencies to have when working towards natural weight loss. By setting clear weight loss goals, you can develop a plan that includes diet, exercise and more, to help you achieve those goals. And then, once you have clear goals with a plan to achieve them, the plan helps you to stay focused on the goals. However, staying focused can sometimes be a challenge with our crazy schedules and lives these days, and a great solution to overcome this challenge is to track your goals, plan and progress in a diary.

Track your goals. First, know what your weight loss goals are and include them at the top of every page of your diary. This will help you stay focused on the true goal at hand, and will help you develop and track your plan to achieve the goals on each page of your diary.

Track your diet for weight loss. Be sure to include all that you eat and drink on any given day to truly have an awareness of your nutritional and caloric intake. Be very honest as this is the only way to awareness to truly know how you’re doing in regards to eating what you need to in order to lose weight naturally and achieve your goals.

Track your weight loss exercise program and routine. No matter what activity you choose to incorporate into your weight loss program, be sure to track it. Track the days in which you do the activity, the duration, and how many calories you’ve burnt. Again, awareness is key, so by tracking, you can look back over your diary and see what weeks you’ve maybe skipped a lot of your exercise program, or on the flip side, you can reward yourself for meeting your daily exercise goal to achieve your ideal weight!

Track your water intake for natural weight loss. Water intake is so important whether you’re trying to lose weight or not, so be sure to at least drink 64 ounces of water a day, and then some. And track the time of day you drink the water, as well, as you don’t want to drink too much at one time.

Include motivational and positive aspects in your diary. Mindset and positive motivation are key to achieving any goal so include positive affirmations, pictures, quotes, or anything that helps keep you focused and in a positive frame of mind when it comes to losing weight naturally.

These five tips will get you well on your way to a positive outcome when attempting to lose weight naturally. Tracking your goals and your diet, exercise and water intake to meet those goals, is the right approach to ensuring you stay on track and aware of your progress with your program, and you’ll be sure to know exactly how you’re doing by having records of your daily weight loss activities!

Water Intake And Natural Weight Loss

August 12th, 2010 -- Posted in Fad Diets & Weight Loss Myths | No Comments »

You’ve probably heard several times that water intake is very important to keep your body healthy in addition to helping you lose weight naturally and keep it off. At the same time, you are probably aware that the majority of the human body is made up of water, so logically, it makes sense that we need it to survive and for our bodies to function properly.

But, do you really understand how water helps us humans maintain healthy weight and body function, which in turn makes it so important to take in plenty of water as part of a natural weight loss program?

Water helps our metabolisms function properly which means weight loss or maintaining a healthy weight. There have been several studies that show how hydration helps increase fat burning. For example, a study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition affirmed the effects of hydration on preventing muscle breakdown and burning fat to confirm that fat burning increases and muscle break down is reduced with adequate cellular hydration, which means that hydration and weight loss are linked at a cellular level. Also, another study that was published in the American Journal of Physiology suggests cell hydration affects a cell’s metabolism and overall functioning, which also affects burning of fat in the body. So, drinking water means optimal weight loss.

Water helps to flush and detoxify our systems which means helping to aid in healthy weight loss. Water definitely aids in helping our body flush out toxins and rid itself of waste. For one, it helps our digestive systems function more effectively, which is the system that helps our bodies eliminate waste, such as chemicals and toxins we ingest and breathe in that do not serve us well. By eliminating these unwanted substances from our system, our bodies are more efficient, which means an easier time achieving weight loss goals.

Water helps your organs and muscles function properly, which means a happier and healthier you. When our bodies are dehydrated, it can cause muscle cramping, dry skin (which can cause aging and sagging skin), nausea and other symptoms, so it’s important to keep our bodies adequately hydrated for optimal well-being and health, and by doing so, we’ll be happier and better able to focus on weight loss from a healthy perspective, which is very important in achieving weight loss goals. In addition, when our cells are properly hydrated, they can function at optimum levels, including transporting important nutrients to the body’s organs.

So, as you can see, adequate water intake is very important for our bodies and overall health, especially when we’re attempting to lose weight naturally. Without adequate water intake, our bodies typically do not function at optimal levels which means a harder time losing weight and maintaining overall health, and who wants that? Drink up to achieve the healthy and happy you that you want and deserve!

Natural Weight Loss And Journaling

August 10th, 2010 -- Posted in Fad Diets & Weight Loss Myths | No Comments »

Journaling is often used by individuals for a variety of reasons, including showing gratitude, record keeping, event analysis, psychotherapy, simply for fun, as well as tracking of activities, such as weight loss, which will be the focus of this article. It’s also been shown that journaling can help us stay focused and can aid in working through emotional road blocks, which is why journaling is a great tool to use when attempting to lose weight.

To reiterate, journaling is a great way to stay focused on your goals when attempting to lose weight naturally. You can use a journal to track your diet and food intake, including type of food and nutritional data, as well as tracking your exercise activities and water intake. By using a journal in this way, it helps you to stay focused on your weight loss goals and brings a great amount of awareness to what you are or are not doing to meet and achieve these goals.

Another great benefit of journaling is writing daily from an emotional perspective. When we diet and try to lose weight, we often find ourselves on an emotional roller coaster ride that’s not healthy for us. Sometimes we’re motivated and feeling great, and other times we’re hard on ourselves and feeling lousy. The latter is what we want to avoid by shifting our mindset to be more focused on the positives and happy moments in our lives while on our weight loss journey, and journaling is a great way to achieve this.

First, journaling is a great way to get all of your emotions out about any situation without having to worry about being audited or having someone else give you their opinion. You’re more than welcome to share your journal with others to help you gain insight into an issue, like with a weight loss coach, for example, but it’s not required, and it’s totally up to you. In other words, a journal is a ‘safe’ place to get all of your thoughts onto paper, and once you do, you’ll be surprised at how much better you feel. In addition, when we journal and write organically, it often allows us to find answers within ourselves to questions or challenges we have. For example, something might come up for you that helps you realize why you’re having a hard time losing weight, like a past comment from someone that made you feel bad about yourself. By journaling about it, it can help you heal and move forward in a positive way towards weight loss!

Also, many opt to have a gratitude journal they write in to show thanks and appreciation for anything they choose to in life. This is a great way to stay positive, which is very helpful when attempting to lose weight naturally.

Regardless of how you choose to use a journal, whether it be to track your weight loss program, vent when you have a bad or off day, or to show gratitude, what’s important is you do what feels best for you on your weight loss journey to help you achieve the life you know you deserve. So happy writing, my friends, and here’s to a lot of healthy and natural weight loss!

The answers to these depressing questions are within you. You may be misguiding yourself towards the wrong journey.

Getting slim is never a speedy, crash process. Rushing your body into something it is not prepared for could lead to more serious repercussions. Quick-fix solutions or more popularly known as fad diets make more false claims than yield real results.

Going on an all natural weight loss process is the most appropriate way to get slim and healthy at the same time. Going natural is the best and most effective way to achieve successful and permanent weight loss. It is about nourishing your body with proper nutrients and not depriving yourself of the essential vitamins and minerals you need to feel healthy and energized.

Applying the natural weight loss program in your daily life is relatively simple and easy because you allow your body to react the way it should… naturally.

Eat balanced, well-portioned meals. Create a sensible eating plan. Extremely reducing your caloric intake will only slow down your metabolism. Don’t starve yourself.

Find time to exercise. You can walk, run, or swim, do whatever physical activity that is suitable to your lifestyle. Adding thirty minutes of physical activity to your daily schedule can go a long way.

These are things your body expects you to do so don’t fail to do them. You’ll be surprised at how these little natural things can do wonders for your health and fitness.

The focus of getting thin with natural weight loss is not solely on looking good outside, but more importantly on the condition of your body inside. Surely you wouldn’t want to look physically attractive but feel sick all the time.

One major benefit of adapting natural weight loss in your life is the security of knowing that not only are you getting thin and looking good but you are also becoming healthier and stronger. You cannot get this benefit from any of the fad diets out there.

The excess weight your body carries draws you nearer and nearer to a variety of health issues each day. Emotionally, you feel burdened as well. Act while there is still time to save your health and self-esteem. You have a lot to live longer for.

Make a lifetime commitment with your body. There is no better time to start natural weight loss habits than today.

BODYBUILDING NUTRITION

To gain muscle and lose fat you must;

• Take in slightly less calories than you are burning

• Consume higher quality calories. Eat more natural unprocessed foods that don’t come wrapped in a box. If it rots, it’s good for you: Lean (protein with low amount of fat, aka chicken & turkey breasts, lean beef, eggs), Green (vegetable, green beans, salads, apples), & Marine (fish).

• Small meals often. You must eventually work up to 5-6 small meals per day; about every 3-4 hours

• Macronutrient Profile- Every meal you eat should contain protein and carbs combined together. How much? A starting point would be;

1. Most women and under 130 lb. men 15-20 grams of protein in each meal
2. 130 lb. — 165 lb. men 20-30 grams of protein in each meal
3. 170 lb. and up 30-45 grams of protein in each meal

One of the biggest “nutrition Secrets” in the Bodybuilding world is a technique called carb cycling. In a nut shell you have two different types of carbs.

Starchy carbs—Sources are brown & wild rice, oatmeal, whole grain pasta, sweet potatoes / yams

Non-starchy carbs—Sources are veggies, grean beans, salads, apples, grape-fruit

Cycle your calories by eating only non starchy carbs with your protein on Interval Cardio days and throw in your starchy carbs only on days you train intensely with weights. This is absolutely t he secret for you to keep your metabolism revved up while you gain muscle and lose fat.

You can work-out till your blue in the face but if you do not incorporate Interval Cardio (done first thing in the morning in a fasted state), intense functional multi-joint, compound exercises, small healthy meals often with protein and carbs combined together, positive mindset, goal setting & social support (you will turn into who you hang around) you will not change your body much. Physique development is about losing fat
(to show the shape of the muscle) as much if not more than building muscle. It is definitely a combination of the two.
